To begin our trip, we start by heading to Lamphun province; a small province that is located 26 kilometers from Chiang Mai and rich in historical sights. First, we visit Chamthewi Temple<\/strong>\u00a0or Ku Kut Temple, commonly referred to a Ku Kut, which was constructed in the Hariphunchai period. The chedi is a square tower which has 5 storeys. Similarly, the chedi is formed like a stepped pyramid. Then, we visit\u00a0Queen Chamthewi Monument<\/strong> and Phrathat Hariphunchai Temple<\/strong>\u00a0which was built during the reign of King Arthitayarat, a descendant of Queen Chamthewi some 800 years ago. A principal landmark is the 46-metre tall golden Chedi whose present appearance was the result of the restoration work in 1443 by a king of Chiang Mai. It has long been regarded as a major place of worship. Other architectural works include the ancient-style brick arch adorned with fine designs and the pair of sculptured lions at the door. There is also a square-shaped Chedi and a Khmer-style Buddha statue. Finally, we visit\u00a0Yok Dok Lamphun Thai Cloth Learning and Conservation Centre<\/strong> Lamphun Thai Silk Learning Center<\/strong>. <\/strong>This center serves as a learning exchange hub aimed at enhancing the production and weaving of traditional Lanna silk using naturally dyed threads for improved quality.
